As the main playing area of the 10th National Games of the People’s Republic of China, Nanjing Olympic Sports Center is like a grand and beautiful art standing in the Central Area of Hexi New City. It covers 100 hectares, with total building area 430 thousand sq.m.. With reasonable layout and beautiful shape, “one field and four gymnasiums” properly combine. Four big functional gymnasiums, whelk-shape swimming hall, fan-shaped gymnasium, lotus flower tennis center and mast-like press center, surround the main playing area having “worldwide first dual-arch”, as if a myriad of stars surround the moon. A dream city which is jointly designed by world class architects Kisho Kurokawa and Jacob van Rijs—No.1 Zone lies in Nanjing Hexi New City, closely near Nanjing Olympic Sport Center and the starting point station of No.1 underground railway. Its total investment is RMB 150 million, covering 96.7 thousand sq.m. with building area nearly 100 thousand sq.m.. It is formed by three areas including “suspending palace” type five-star hotel, art hatch center and commercial building, which may be called architecture art of Hexi area.

Yilanzhai Art Gallery, as the main building of No.1 Zone, is designed by an Japanese architect Kisho Kurokawa, called subaqueous art gallery. Its style is unique, with rich collection. In No.1 Zone, the “suspending palace” type five-star hotel, which is carefully designed by Jacob van Rijs after five times’ changes of his draft, is honored as “architecture growing from the ground”, with strong wallop. The hotel has four floors in total, and the first floor is nearly 9-meters-high aerial, so you can view the west side of the Riverside Sight Belt there. It also may serve as outdoors space of art activities, fashion release space and open show place of avant-garde sculpture. The rest floors are functional ones, with nearly 200 guest rooms, and equipped with 407-sq.m. swimming hall, 500-persons banqueting hall and 400-persons conference center, which is a five-star luxury hotel in Hexi area.

六朝古都有着丰厚的文化底蕴,河西新城为营造文化氛围,承接历史文脉,在新城中心区投资1.5亿元人民币,兴建一座全数字化的现代图书馆——金陵图书馆,成为建设“文化南京”的标志性项目。
The six-dynasty ancient capital has rich cultural precipitation. Hexi New City, in order to construct a cultural atmosphere, continues the historical pulse by investing RMB 150 million in the Central Area of Hexi New City to build a all-digital modern library—Jinling Library, which becomes a symbol project of building “cultural Nanjing”.
金陵图书馆东临奥体中心,西隔世纪大道与艺兰斋美术馆相望,紧接地铁奥体中心站,占地3.3公顷,计划建筑面积2.5万平方米。为了将其建成新城标志性的文化建筑,在设计上经过多轮专家论证,进行方案比对,从众多设计方案中挑选出了3个,分别是由东南大学建筑设计研究院送选的3号方案;德国及上海市建筑设计研究院联合送选的5号方案和深圳市建筑设计研究总院送选的2号方案。东南大学的方案看起来如同一排巨大的书架,每个“书架”上都有着中国传统的龙形浮雕,既给人一种强烈的气势,又与书的主题紧密切合;德国GPM与上海市建筑设计研究院送选的联合方案则显得颇为大胆,高空俯瞰好像一个巨大的开口木匣,造型方正,简洁大方。这一文化项目在2004年南京市重大项目洽谈会上一经推出,就引起了投资者的多方关注。
Jinling Library borders Nanjing Olympic Sports Center to the east, faces Yilanzhai Art Gallery to the west with Century Street midway and is closely near Nanjing Olympic Sports Center station of the underground railway, covering 3.3 hectares with planned building area 25 thousand sq.m.. In order to make it a representative cultural architecture of Xincheng, on design after rounds of expert reasoning and scheme comparison, 3 were picked out from the many design schemes, respectively No. 3 scheme from Architectural Design and Research Institute of Southeast University, No. 5 scheme jointly delivered by GPM of Germany and Shanghai Institute of Architectural Design & Research and No. 2 scheme from Shenzhen General Institute of Architectural Design and Research. The scheme from Southeast University looks like a row of huge bookshelves, on each of which there is Chinese traditional dragon embossment, not only emitting a kind of strong vigor, but also closely complying with topics of the books. The scheme jointly delivered by GPM of Germany and Shanghai Institute of Architectural Design & Research seems rather bold, and overlooked from high altitude it is like a huge open wooden box, square, compact and decent. This cultural project, once pushed on Nanjing negotiation meeting of major projects in 2004, immediately triggered much attention from investors.
